Your immune system is key to maintaining good overall health. It is the cornerstone for fighting every kind of attack on your body, and when it is weakened it can have difficulty fighting disease and even healing minor scrapes and cuts.
In today’s modern society, most ailments are treated with drugs. In fact, antibiotics are prescribed so frequently, that many people experience additional health related issues due to weakened immune systems, caused from overuse of antibiotics. While there are instances where antibiotics are necessary, overuse can cause serious issues with your immune system.
Your immune system is designed to fight off the bad stuff and help with the healing process. It is a very sophisticated system that learns and adapts constantly. However, many of the drugs used today, limit the immune system from doing what it was designed to do.
If you have experienced a weakened immune system or have taken antibiotics, it may be beneficial for you to strengthen your immune system again and let your body fight naturally. Here are some natural and holistic ways in which you can cleanse your system and build your immune system:
- Your liver’s main function is to cleanse toxins, however drugs tend to overload your liver. Detoxification of your liver is a good step in cleaning your system. You may wish to use herbs such as black radish, dandelion, or milk thistle to help cleanse your liver and bloodstream of the toxins.
- Ayurvedic medicines have shown to be beneficial in boosting your immune system. Picrorrhiza is an Indian herb used in Ayurvedic medicine and is thought to be a powerful immunostimulant that will boost all aspects of your immune function.
- It is important to eat a healthy diet and provide your body with adequate amounts of vitamins and minerals. Vitamin A, C, and E, as well as Zinc are all critically nutrients needed to help keep your immune system healthy.
- There are many foods that have been shown to help cleanse and strengthen a weakened immune system. Be sure to include garlic, kelp, and pearl barley in your diet. These all have trace elements in them that have been shown to boost immune function.
In addition to the above natural remedies, it is important to get plenty of sleep, remove excess stress, and exercise daily. These all have significant relation to immune deficiencies and disease. For those who have taken antibiotics for years, it is often suggested to do a fast to cleanse your system of the toxins. Always consult with your natural health care provider before attempting a fast or any type of cleanse.
You may find that once you have cleansed your system and boosted your immune system, you will have more energy, and be sick less often. Your body and immune system is an incredible machine and if given the proper care will take care of you!
