The actress and model Elizabeth Hurley has been in the public’s eye since she was 29 years old and has stood out since she first burst onto the scene. Her first modeling job was with the Estee Lauder Company and has worked with them for the last 21 years. She has always had a stunning look and partnering with a makeup company pushed her into the lime light. At 50 years old, Elizabeth Hurley is continuing her run in the public’s eye and now has a hit television show on the E! Network called The Royals. But how does she stay beautiful with a busy and hectic work schedule? She gave her secrets to Elle magazine in an interview that was both candid and funny.
Elizabeth Hurley admits to being like everyone else! She confesses to finding “it impossible to stick to diets and beauty routines” and that when she is not in the public’s eye she “revert[s] to the Wild Woman of Wanga-look with alarming ease.” She revealed to the magazine 7 simple tasks she follows when she is getting ready to be on public display:
Start the day with warm water. As soon as Elizabeth wakes in the morning she drinks a big glass of water before she eats or does anything active. She says “it tastes fairly disgusting. But it’s fantastic for your digestive system”.
She is never without a bottle of water. She says that not only does the water improve skin tone and eliminate toxins; it also helps to stave off hunger.
She ends her shower with cold water. She recommends investing in a body exfoliation crème or wash. Scrubbing away the dead skin gives you a healthy glow and she ends her shower with a cold water rinse that closes the pores and invigorates the skin.
Apply a fake tan. Although it is relatively new to her routine, Elizabeth says that “nothing makes you look better faster” and her personal favorite is Estee Lauder’s Go Bronze.
Exercise more. Hurley advocates a brisk 30 minute walk everyday to improve your circulation and to “get things moving”.
Eat less in preparation. She is not usually one who diets but she says by eliminating sweets, bread, pasta, cheese, and “crisps” for at least two weeks, helps prepares your body for a special night out on the town.
Lastly, she swears by her soups. When Hurley cuts down on food, her trick is to make a big “vat” of “delicious homemade vegetable soup and have a cup of it whenever [she is] tempted to raid the fridge”.
With these simple tasks Hurley has been able to stay beautiful, healthy and relatively ageless. And let’s be honest, she really looks like she hasn’t aged a day since she was 29!
