You have heard all the hype about detoxing and know that it would be good for your body, but still a little reluctant to try because you feel you will starve yourself. You are not alone. Millions of people every year think about doing a detox, but never complete one for many reasons.
Detoxing can be very healthy for your body, as ridding your body of unwanted toxic sludge is the number one objective. It can give your cells the much needed break they need to help you feel healthy and vibrate again, however, detoxing should be approached with care. Here are some ways in which you can detox your body gently, not starve yourself, and gain some real health benefits:
- The healthiest way to detox your body is with fresh fruits and vegetables. It is recommended that you only do a fruit and vegetable detox for up to 4 days. It can be difficult for many people to eat just fruits and veggies for 4 days, therefore many find that making smoothies with the fresh ingredients is much easier to handle. Be sure that you include a wide variety, as there are many different benefits from including different fruits and vegetables.
- Another popular detox is lemon water. Lemon water has many benefits to the body, including help to flush your liver. Adding a fresh lemon to a pure glass of water first thing in the morning will help your body get started. It helps to boost your metabolism and can act as a diuretic, helping you dispose of that extra water weight. You may even want to add a splash of cranberry juice for an afternoon treat. Make sure the cranberry juice is pure organic.
- Popular among women is a detox bath. These baths are easy on the wallet and can be done weekly if needed. They will help to rejuvenate your skin and help draw harmful toxins out of your body. There are many items you can use for your detox bath, including Epsom salt, essential oils, and bath salts. Be careful what you use, as some commercial products contain synthetic chemicals that will deter the detox from working properly.
- Brushing your skin is a great skin detox. Your skin gathers many dead cells and if your pours become clogged, it can prevent your body from naturally releasing toxins through your skin. This is something that you can do every day and is easy. In addition to having detox benefits, dry brushing your skin can also help with circulation.
The most important detox you can do for yourself is to remove stress and clutter from your life. Stress can be crippling to the body and continued stress is harmful in so many ways. Look at including yoga, meditation, or other relaxation techniques, such as massage, in your everyday life to help combat stress. The important thing to remember is that you can detox without starving your mind, body and soul.
Always consult your physician before trying any detox, as it may complicate any health conditions you may have or medications you are taking.
